Unleash the Power of Mentoring

Many leaders struggle to find the right type of followers, but once they do, the next important task is to mentor such people. Mentoring is about providing teaching, direction, example and support to someone else to transfer specific competencies to them, which you possess, or to prepare them for a specific role in which you have experience.

There is a certain mindset that sets mentoring leaders apart, and there are specific processes that effective mentors use to achieve their mentoring goals. John C. Maxwell many years ago shared four steps that helps in effective mentoring process. 1) I do, you watch; 2) We do together; 3) You do, I watch; and 4) You do alone. Deploying this four step process with the people you lead equips them with the skills they require for success and prepares them adequately for the future managerial and leadership responsibilities that lie ahead.
